New Passwords app
For the first time, a dedicated Passwords app will be available for Apple iOS 18, macOS 15, and iPadOS 18. The new Passwords app will be available across Apple’s platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. It will also reportedly be available on Windows.
New customization options
Although you could previously personalise your iPhone’s home and lock screens with widgets and alternate backgrounds, Apple iOS 18 will allow you to alter the apps and arrangement on your home screen in addition to the lock screen features.
Additionally, you may simply alter how your app’s icons look. You can colour your icons to match your wallpaper or apply a dark mode filter to them.
Apple iOS 18 will allow you to change the iPhone lock screen’s camera and torch features. By doing so, you may avoid unintentionally turning on your iPhone’s torch when putting it in your pocket and possibly open another app.
While you’ve been able to customize your iPhone’s home and lock screens with widgets and different backgrounds, iOS 18 will let you customize your home screen’s apps and their layout, as well as your phone’s lock screen functions.
You can also easily customize the appearance of your app’s icons. You can give your icons a dark mode filter, or tint your icons to match your wallpaper.
Control Center
Apple announces a new control center where you can access more controls and settings of your iphone can also change which apps you see, as well as their size, so you have quicker access the buttons you use more often.
Lock and hide certain apps
It can be nerve-wracking to let someone use your iPhone, particularly if you don’t want them to see or use certain apps. However, Apple iOS 18 will let you hide and lock apps.
An app that you lock will then need your passcode or Face ID to unlock and use. Additionally, you can hide an app in your App Library’s Hidden apps section if you just don’t want anyone to know you have it on your iPhone. It organises all of your hidden apps in one location and works similarly to uninstalling apps from your iPhone’s home screen without erasing them.
Photos Gets a Unified View
With iOS 18, the tab-based Photos app of the past is gone and is replaced by a single view that starts with a grid of photos at the top and places them above collections that organise your photos.
The People & Pets area is then displayed once the latter portion has been grouped by images that were all taken on particular days, like today and yesterday. After that, you can pin your favourites underneath that assortment.
The option to filter out screenshots, which tend to lose their usefulness and obstruct the way more quickly these days, is the other significant update to the iOS 18 Photos app that I am glad to see.
Game Mode
Your iPhone’s Game Mode will reduce background activity to enhance the performance of your games. According to Apple, it will also respond more quickly when using wireless game controllers and AirPods.
Messages gets an upgrade
How iOS 18 will improve the Messages app is a multifaceted story, with messaging with Android users being only one aspect. Apple has made two improvements to the Tapback icons that my friends and family adore using to decorate their messages.
Firstly, you may now use any emoji for a Tapback, and the default collection of Tapbacks gets a colour and shadowing makeover.
